Where the unit sits changes how much air actually moves through it — and that has more to do with its real-world performance than which model got purchased. Give It Room to Actually Breathe A dehumidifier works by pulling in humid air, separating out the moisture, and pushing dry air back out. If the intake and exhaust don't have open space around them, that circulation gets choked off before it starts. Keeping the unit at least 30cm from the wall is the baseline — pushed any closer, the narrowed airflow path measurably cuts into how much moisture the unit can actually pull out.
